Gionee launched the Marathon M5 a couple of months back and just last month, the brand launched the Marathon M5 lite and just when we thought we had seen the last of Marathon M5, a M5 mini has been launched.
The Gionee Marathon M5 Mini is powered by a MediaTek MT6580 processor,
2GB RAM with 16GB internal storage which can be expanded using Micro SD-Card. The device also sports a 5.0inch (1280 × 720 pixel resolution) IPS display.
Just as the name implies, it is a mini variant to the Magathon M5 which comes packed with more advanced specs. So as expected, the M5 mini sports mid-range specs.
The Gionee Marathon M5 mini comes packed with a battery capacity of 4000mAh which should keep the device going for like two days depending on usage. In terms of camera, the smartphone sports an 8 megapixels back camera accompanied by a 5 megapixels front facing camera.
The Marathon M5 Mini was recently launched In Nigeria and commenting on the launch, Gionee’s Nigeria Marketing Director, Somoye Habeeb said:
“Gionee focuses on innovation, efficiency and affordability in ways that other brands don’t. Having received a warm reception from the Nigerian market when we introduced the Gionee M5 a few months ago, Gionee is following up with the M5 Mini.”
“The Gionee M5 Mini as the name implies, is a compact version of the M5. It is just as effective and stylish, but more affordable. It can be considered a sequel to the highly durable M5, and is the latest phone to be released in Nigeria.”
In terms of design, the M5 Mini has a dimension of 143.5 × 71 × 9.6mm leaving it not too buggy. In terms of Operating System, you’d be getting the usual suspect on the device. By usual suspect, I mean Android 5.1 lollipop running under the hood accompanied by other connectivity options like 3G, GPS, Bluetooth as well as Wi-Fi.
So far so good, price hasn’t been stated for the Gionee Marathon M5 mini smartphone. However, for a mid-range smartphone, price should be within the N20-30k region.
