Samsung is getting ready to host an Unpacked event on February 21 at MWC
21, and we're all expecting the company to unveil its new Galaxy S7
family of smartphones on that day.
Like the Galaxy S6 series from last year, the S7 lineup should include
devices with flat displays, as well as with curved ones. An image posted
today by Evan Blass (aka @evleaks) suggests that Samsung is planning to
launch three S7 models: Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, and Galaxy S7 edge+.
A Samsung Galaxy S7+ may also be in the making, but it's not mentioned
here.
While the Galaxy S7 is expected to sport a flat, 5.1-inch Quad HD
display, it's not clear what sizes the dual-curve screens of the Galaxy
S7 edge and S7 edge+ should have. Anyway, Samsung could go with the same
sizes that it used for the Galaxy S6 edge and Galaxy S6 edge+: 5.1
inches, and 5.7 inches, respectively.
As you can see in the image Above, the Galaxy S7, S7 edge and S7 edge+
logos are shown on a background that seems to include tiny water drops.
Not long ago, we heard that the S7 series would be water-resistant (like
the Galaxy S5 from 2014), so the background makes sense. Of course,
anyone could make an image like this, pretending it to reveal the logos
of these upcoming Samsung handsets. However, @evleaks usually posts
genuine images and info, so, at the moment, we're inclined to believe
that these are, indeed, the logos of Samsung's next-gen high-end
smartphones.
Compared to the Galaxy S6 family, the Samsung Galaxy S7 series should
bring notable changes. Besides water-resistance, the new smartphones may
feature microSD card slots, always-on screen functionality, larger
batteries, and 12 MP rear cameras with big sensors (these should be
better than the 16 MP cameras of the S6 models). Stay tuned as we try to
gather more details about this
